From anti-sectarianism to (intra-)sectarian rivalry: the framing of the 2019 Iraqi and Lebanese protests and its effects on the outcomes of the uprisings

In 2019, widespread protests in Iraq and Lebanon called for an end to the ethno-sectarian regimes in these countries. While neither of the protest movements managed to overthrow their power-sharing systems, there were some differences in the specific political outcomes of the two movements.
