My thesis investigates EU enlargement and financial assistance to Serbia through the lens of the rule of law, focusing on the people who participate in the implementation of these policies. I focus on power and governmentality in the context of EU accession negotiations between Serbia and the EU. I ask: which forms of governmentality does the EU employ in Serbia? How these differ from European practices implemented during the inter-war, colonial, and post-colonial periods?
