Abstract

"A common phrase used to describe the form and extent of violence in a conflict situation is, "Neighbours were killing each other." Often, we approach this performance of violence through an analysis of the "Why". However, this research project hopes to focus on the "How". This question comes in two mutually constitutive parts: How does the performance of this violence take place and how is that performance justified and we will explore the same in the context of the on-going Syrian conflict and it's relationship to social media.
