Abstract

This dissertation examines the unexplained variation in government responses on citizen-reporting platforms. It analyses a granular large N-data of complaints and public officials' responses on Thailand Traffy Fondue and FixMyStreet Japan, combined with a comparative case study method. This dissertation argues that the framing of complaints could explain the variation in speed, type and resolution of responses, facilitating new insights into state-citizen relations and responsiveness literature.,
