Abstract
This report examines widows' inheritance rights in 11 countries, highlighting systematic discrimination and challenges. Using desk research and 17 interviews with experts in Afghanistan, China, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, South Africa, and Venezuela, the study explores legal protections, gaps between law and practice, and impacts of customary laws. Framed within feminist theory, it concludes with recommendations to enhance protections, involve men, and increase rights literacy efforts to safeguard widows more effectively.
