Abstract
This report addresses a critical gap in policy discourse on AI and human rights. While debates predominantly focus on the negative impacts of AI systems, this research takes a different approach. The primary goal was to identify potential ways to leverage AI for the pursuit of human rights. It concludes that, if developed and deployed responsibly, AI presents an opportunity for advancing human rights. Several illustrative use cases highlight applications in this frontier field. It also addresses limiting factors and risks to be managed and mitigated if the full potential is to be realized.
