Investigating the case of egg freezing and kinship in Japan, this research project asks: how is the 'modern' reproductive technology of egg freezing deployed in reconfiguring the imagined kinship 'tradition'? Conducting multi-sited ethnography, this research explores how different stakeholders, including its users, clinicians, the media, and governing institutions, interact with egg freezing in negotiating their interests, desires and fears.
