Abstract

Algorithmic labor is defined, for the purposes of this project, as 'the labor whose social order of work life is experienced around algorithms'. Through an ethnographic study of the sociotechnical agents and practices in platform companies in the global south, the project hopes to illuminate how capital, labor, and technology are intertwined, and what does the making of algorithmic labor tells us about the broader political economy.
