By looking at the relationship between Costa Rican state security actors and urban deprived migrants the aim of this research is to understand how transnational and national security dynamics impact local security outcomes. By means of ethnographic fieldwork this research will explore how the 2018 political violence in Costa Rica impacted the socio-spatial exclusion of the Nicaraguan diaspora in urban Costa Rica.
