This MPT offers examination of the evolution of state recognition practice since decolonization and the effects of these changes on state formation projects in contemporary unrecognized states. The research focuses on the interactions between two linked historical processes, namely the normative changes in recognition criteria seen in periods of acute international expansion and the development of secessionist projects in contemporary unrecognized entities.
