This MPT presents three research projects in development and gender economics. The first looks at whether exposure to extreme weather events affects girls' probability of becoming child brides in rural Burkina Faso. The second chapter investigates with a lab experiment whether digitization of financial services reduces women's financial control in Bangladesh. The third idea builds on the second one and looks in more detail at the relationship between women's financial inclusion and empowerment.
