This PTD contains the first chapter of the PhD thesis, which addresses the rise of technology companies as governors of free speech. In particular, it looks at the classification and definition of private technology companies and social media platforms, hereby distinguished from state actors but also from ordinary corporations. The PTD also contains a general presentation of the PhD research and topic, a provisional table of contents, and a tentative bibliography.
