Abstract

My research focuses on the flow of British Muslim foreign fighters in the Bosnian civil war. My hypothesis is that this early form of European Muslim foreign fighting depended on an Islamization of racial radicalism that evolved in England during the 1980s. Open anti-Westernism and al-Qa'ida-style terrorism were not present at the beginning of this flow but they were rather latecomer variables in the whole foreign fighting lifecycle.
