Abstract

This project is an attempt to understand Palestinian experiences around sperm smuggling from Israeli prisons - a practice that has emerged over the past ten years. During this time, dozens of Palestinian couples, otherwise denied conjugal visits, have been able to conceive. It has become implicated in the national rhetoric of resistance, with much of the conventional focus being on the male prisoner. This research asks What meanings does sperm-smuggling come to acquire for the wives of prisoners
