Abstract

Anthropologists have in recent decades increasingly come to view human rights not as abstract categories so much as dynamic social practices. By unravelling specific cultural understandings in a local setting, anthropologists seek to explore the processes that make human rights “real” in the world and to understand what differences rights can make in practice.
