This dissertation studies the political economy of financial regulation in the U.S. I study the determinants of voting in financial legislation in the U.S. Congress and the returns financial firms get from being politically involved through campaign contributions. I contribute to the existing literature by studying a longer period and a larger number of bills on financial regulation.
