The Bottom of the Food Chain? A History of Food Aid Programmes in French Speaking African Countries, 1945-2000"

International food assistance has tended to be studied exclusively from the perspective of donor countries, and as an instrument of their foreign policy. By contrast, our understanding of the long-term consequences and complex mechanisms of food assistance programmes within the countries where they have been implemented remains very limited. In my MPT, I detail how and why my thesis will seek to address this gap by documenting this history in a set of French-speaking African countries."
