Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explain the conditions under which transitional justice (TJ) is likely to be used for political manipulation and what characterizes democratic governments that do so. In order to see which governments are more likely to misuse transitional justice, seven preliminary hypotheses are proposed. They serve as the basis of a research design comprised of mixed methods with multiple regression analysis and case studies.
