Climate characteristics are thought to determine which bundle of crops farmers in an area chose to grow. I use crop production data from the Po River Valley in Northern Italy to show that there are distinctive primary crops grown under different climate conditions, but bundles, beyond primary crop, although influenced by temperature are rarely chosen because of precipitation, indicating that some form of irrigation has already been introduced.
