Abstract

Résumé issu du site www.genie.ids.ac.uk/ : "Following a survey done among young men in Mexico City, it was observed that the dominant form of masculinity in deprived districts of the city is based on two main characteristics: displaying an active heterosexuality and taking socio-economic responsibility for family members. The image that people have of men seems immutable and is not likely to change. However, when you look into the subject of male identity more deeply, in terms of social and institutional roles, images of masculinity are more varied. At the individual level, there many variations and young adults sometimes adjust their behaviours in an ambivalent way according to the realities they face. Practice rarely allows these idealised expectations of masculinity to be strictly applied by real men in practice."
