Abstract

Thanks to the Islamic Republic’s almost complete control over access to its territory, Iran has become virtually inaccessible to independent researchers and journalists. Information flows in and out of the country are likewise heavily controlled. In an era of widespread Internet usage and Persian-language satellite TV channels, however, further attempts to restrict the flow of information may prove an uphill struggle.
