Abstract
At least since the 1970s, when human rights arguably first spilled into the global consciousness, human rights discourse has become ever more omnipresent. But this presence has also exposed the term – and its practitioners – to challenges from those who take exception to the Western and hegemonic nature of the human rights movement itself.
