This paper looks at the dynamics of legal and illegal immigration with applications from queuing theory. It models illegal immigration as a function of restrictions imposed in corresponding legal channels and the traffic therein. This contributes to existing theories which posit that migration is a structural phenomenon and persists beyond the causes which initiate it. A tentative empirical strategy is also proposed.
