This research proposal entitled 'The Value of Land, the Value of Labour, Agrarian Transformations and Uncertainties in the Mountains of Yemen' will explore the economic and non-economic systems of valuation of land and labour in the Yemeni higlands, and more particularly their relative importance in the persistence of what is still today the dominant form of production in the country: rainfed terraced farming. This project will contribute to the debates on the agrarian question and on value.
